“The Make-Up of a Man” rocked the house with the kind of response I could have never foreseen. Quite a lot of talk and compliments were being rained upon our modest little film and the crowd reaction at the Top 15 screening was our best ever and well worth the trip alone.

The award we received was Best Comedy in the National Film Challenge 2006 competition where 180+ teams entered films (not all comedies of course), this was only part of the festival which also featured the winners of the 48 Hour Film Projects and HD Showdown competitions where a lot of the great folks we met and partied with were also praised for their great work.

Now this has nothing to do with the Audience Award that we asked everyone to vote online for, that was for a $500 prize. In the end it’s not worth near as much as the genuine recognition the Genre award brought but I still want to thank everyone for putting their time in to go and vote. It’s also worth mentioning that our very own Mike Butler snagged two gold medals in the Trivia and Time Trials categories in the Filmmaker Olympics!

So what is next for us? Well we are on the waiting list for the Philadelphia 48 Hour Film which takes place in 2 weeks but chances are slim that we’ll get in, sadly it filled up extremely fast. But there are 2 possible contests in the summer and the National again in October so we will be working, we may even shoot something for ourselves before the summer so we will keep everyone posted.

Finally congratulations to everyone involved in Dellavision for their hard work and time that made the Drop Deuce Movement “The Make-Up of a Man” possible. We all win……but I get to keep the plaque.

You however get this!

“Salamei!”

DELLAVISION PRESENTS:
“A Drop Deuce Movement”

Another great time.

The compressed period that this goes down in maintains every circumstance found in ordinary production, instead it comes at you with whiplash fury. Unexpected weather, loss of locations,
overworked equipment issues, overworked people issues, car trouble, unstable shooting conditions, and an ever approaching deadline to name the obvious. But you also have great long days with an ever-rotating compliment of people that compress all the anticipation and
dedication of a long term project into a brief head spinning time.

It is for all the good and bad things we do this to ourselves because in 48-72 hours it’s over, like coming home from the shore at the end of the summer. We have pictures and home video, great
stories, and a final product of all our efforts. Now take that work and perfect it, doing all the things you would have done if you had more time, and create something that lives beyond the weekend, always maintaining it’s origins.

The whole thing is something people like us don’t usually have a reason to do.

So keep your heads on and enjoy yourselves, we certainly did. “When can we go back?” Let’s see there are two nationals coming up, one in the summer….one in the fall….

The wheels are in motion for this months contest, this is the first time we’re doing a 48 hour competition as opposed to the 72 hour ones of the past. More preparation is in order and although everyone will be there for less time we must work twice as hard.

We are trying to have a meeting of all essential crew beforehand to discuss wild card genres, get paperwork completed, lock down locations, and to collect the entry fee and budget for the weekend - this will be a minimal amount per person.

Whoever is willing to stay over on said weekend is encouraged to do so, just bring a pillow/blanket to guarantee your comfort.

If anyone needs to contact me the send an e-mail to: John

Thats all for now, get ready for later.

Get a hold of me if your in for the 48 hour film project. This is absolute insanity. Well, we got to get ready. Everyone start coming up with lists of what we need. I’m going to start that this week, I would like the budget to be 500 dollars for food and supplies. We need to get everything in place because I will be in Ireland the week before. Also for everyone who doesnt know; we are going to need some strong backs. I blew a disk in my back and wont be able to lift anything. I’m off to work and I will get a list going of what we need.
So strap in kids this going to get interesting!

I’m sorry to report that Dellavision will not be a part of the NFC this year because of two of it’s core members having weddings to attend that same weekend. Although this is a big downer for the crew we are hoping to produce a short by the end of the year under our own terms so stay tuned for news on that. Also, if you haven’t checked out “The Space Program” then go to the website at ‘wybfspaceprogram.com’and poke around, it will be updated tonight, tomorrow night at 8pm is a new episode.

Congratulations to the hard working cast and crew that brought “OFF WHITE” together on time for submission! In response to it being awarded “Best Action Film” this past Thursday in the ‘Filmerica Challenge’ I’ve done an update to the site featuring an all new LOGO image and 42 PRODUCTION PHOTOS that I’ve been meaning to post for about a month now.

The ‘Final Cut’, similar to what was done with “SWIFT JUSTICE”, is currently in progress and so far it looks like it will really be something. Stay posted for news of a ‘Dellavision Screening Party’
by the end of the year once a third film is completed, most likely for the upcoming ‘National Film Challenge’ in late October. Spread the word, the Dellavision train presses on!
