“The Make-Up of a Man” rocked the house with the kind of response I could have never foreseen. Quite a lot of talk and compliments were being rained upon our modest little film and the crowd reaction at the Top 15 screening was our best ever and well worth the trip alone.

The award we received was Best Comedy in the National Film Challenge 2006 competition where 180+ teams entered films (not all comedies of course), this was only part of the festival which also featured the winners of the 48 Hour Film Projects and HD Showdown competitions where a lot of the great folks we met and partied with were also praised for their great work.

Now this has nothing to do with the Audience Award that we asked everyone to vote online for, that was for a $500 prize. In the end it’s not worth near as much as the genuine recognition the Genre award brought but I still want to thank everyone for putting their time in to go and vote. It’s also worth mentioning that our very own Mike Butler snagged two gold medals in the Trivia and Time Trials categories in the Filmmaker Olympics!

So what is next for us? Well we are on the waiting list for the Philadelphia 48 Hour Film which takes place in 2 weeks but chances are slim that we’ll get in, sadly it filled up extremely fast. But there are 2 possible contests in the summer and the National again in October so we will be working, we may even shoot something for ourselves before the summer so we will keep everyone posted.

Finally congratulations to everyone involved in Dellavision for their hard work and time that made the Drop Deuce Movement “The Make-Up of a Man” possible. We all win……but I get to keep the plaque.

You however get this!

“Salamei!”

Many things going on right now.

___________________________________________________

A NEW CUT of “The Make-Up of a Man” is in the works to compete in some small time shorts competitions in the coming months. It will have several fixes done to it including a few shots added/replaced, audio mastering, and the addition of a closing credits sequence.

The Production Photos along with the Cast & Crew section will be up as soon as a day can be put aside to do it, and to be honest it may not be for some time but will be before 2007.

A YouTube Channel has been opened in our name to view all of our existing material with new things to be produced exclusively for it, a link can be found off of our MySpace page and soon the website.

You are invited to stop by and RATE & COMMENT on our work (do yourself a favor and check out “The Surprising Adventures of Sir Digby Chicken Ceaser” in our favorites section).

The Space Program” is finishing up the 8th SEASON of RADIO-RAMA on WYBF. The Season Finale is LIVE on December 14th, then tentatively scheduled for February 1st, the two year anniversary of The Captains’ launch into space, is “5 0 0″ the 3 HOUR Series Finale Special.

Oh yeah, then there’s a little thing called “Bloody Wall of Gore” which is demanding a lot of time right now to ensure a Christmas Release of the first album, “Greetings from the Planet BWOG”.

[BE SURE TO CHECK THEM OUT IN OUR TOP FRIENDS]
(AND BUY THE ALBUM WHEN IT’S RELEASED)

In 2007…

Finally the NEW CUT of “Off White” will be released, it is almost done but had to be set aside for the time being. This version feels truley finished and may have a go at a couple contests itself.

Let’s not forget “Fenton’s Fury” which will receive the same treatment of remastering. Not much work needs to be done outside of audio and a proper credit sequence, not bad considering this was our two day monster.

Speaking of the Philadelphia 48 Hour Film Project, Team “E.E.” will be competing with maybe a couple new faces sometime in the end of March.

There will be a NEW WEBSITE launched in time for that contest with new graphic, sections, the works. We will also finally solve our problem with codecs, streaming, compression types and what have you. The website for “The Space Program” will continue to be updated to include every episode with synopsis and the long promised “Baked Potatoes” & “The Dangerous Kitchen”ARCHIVES.

Once some more material is completed a DVDVDCD is planned for release, more on that later along with news of the release screening party on the big screen.

In addition to all this there already is some pre-production going into some non-contest based short-form material to be produced in the first half of the year leading up to the Summer 72 hour Filmerica Challenge and then back to the NFC in October.

DELLAVISION PRESENTS:
“A Drop Deuce Movement”

Production NewsPosted by Captain John @ 04 Apr 2006 12:00 pm

Good Day to you, or night or……dusk!

There have been some updates to the main website (dellavision.com) that may be of interest to some of you.

* Each team section has been updated to include 50+ PRODUCTION PHOTOS from each shoot, this includes 10+ added to the existing “Brain Bandage” section.

* Each section now has a fully updated CAST & CREW section to reflect who was part of each team.

* Also, a “mySPACE” link has been added to the MAIN PAGE so you can easily toggle between the two sites.

* IMPORTANT. We have our new video format for the films that is still turning over on the site. We will no longer offer the XVID formatted files because now there is a WMV (Windows Media Video) format that has the same quality and is a PROGRESSIVE DOWNLOAD. This means that you can watch it LIVE from the site without having to download it first like the GOOGLE VIDEO versions on MySpace, except these are FULL SCREEN, high quality files. “Fenton’s Fury” is available in the new format, the others will be in the next couple of days, until then the XVIDs will stay up.

* Speaking of GOOGLE VIDEO, if you search “Dellavision” it offers you some interesting DOWNLOAD options, including ‘VIDEO-IPOD’ format & ‘PSP’ format. If you are going to download the standard version we prefer you go to the website for the higher quality file and not download the GOOGLE version.

Well I guess that does it. Thanks for joining the Dellavision community and please feel free to leave some feedback on the website concerning the movies, pictures, and so on.

Thanks.

Another great time.

The compressed period that this goes down in maintains every circumstance found in ordinary production, instead it comes at you with whiplash fury. Unexpected weather, loss of locations,
overworked equipment issues, overworked people issues, car trouble, unstable shooting conditions, and an ever approaching deadline to name the obvious. But you also have great long days with an ever-rotating compliment of people that compress all the anticipation and
dedication of a long term project into a brief head spinning time.

It is for all the good and bad things we do this to ourselves because in 48-72 hours it’s over, like coming home from the shore at the end of the summer. We have pictures and home video, great
stories, and a final product of all our efforts. Now take that work and perfect it, doing all the things you would have done if you had more time, and create something that lives beyond the weekend, always maintaining it’s origins.

The whole thing is something people like us don’t usually have a reason to do.

So keep your heads on and enjoy yourselves, we certainly did. “When can we go back?” Let’s see there are two nationals coming up, one in the summer….one in the fall….

Release InformationPosted by Captain John @ 27 Mar 2006 12:00 pm

Well we did it, but we couldn’t have without the help of a very dedicated cast & crew. We’ve posted the film in our standard DOWNLOADABLE XVID format, but in the coming days we will be adding Windows Media Player STREAMABLE versions of everything.

If you absolutely can’t get anything to work then go to ‘myspace.com/germanchickenlover’ and our Director of Fatography should have them posted there.

There will be a screening of our film along with all the other contestants TUESDAY 3/28 in downtown Philadelphia. If you are interested in going CONTACT John and if we place
well we may be a part of the ‘Philadelphia Film Festival’ this FRIDAY 3/31.

Wish us luck!

Contest UpdatesPosted by Captain John @ 05 Mar 2006 12:00 pm

The wheels are in motion for this months contest, this is the first time we’re doing a 48 hour competition as opposed to the 72 hour ones of the past. More preparation is in order and although everyone will be there for less time we must work twice as hard.

We are trying to have a meeting of all essential crew beforehand to discuss wild card genres, get paperwork completed, lock down locations, and to collect the entry fee and budget for the weekend - this will be a minimal amount per person.

Whoever is willing to stay over on said weekend is encouraged to do so, just bring a pillow/blanket to guarantee your comfort.

If anyone needs to contact me the send an e-mail to: John

Thats all for now, get ready for later.

Get a hold of me if your in for the 48 hour film project. This is absolute insanity. Well, we got to get ready. Everyone start coming up with lists of what we need. I’m going to start that this week, I would like the budget to be 500 dollars for food and supplies. We need to get everything in place because I will be in Ireland the week before. Also for everyone who doesnt know; we are going to need some strong backs. I blew a disk in my back and wont be able to lift anything. I’m off to work and I will get a list going of what we need.
So strap in kids this going to get interesting!

I’m sorry to report that Dellavision will not be a part of the NFC this year because of two of it’s core members having weddings to attend that same weekend. Although this is a big downer for the crew we are hoping to produce a short by the end of the year under our own terms so stay tuned for news on that. Also, if you haven’t checked out “The Space Program” then go to the website at ‘wybfspaceprogram.com’and poke around, it will be updated tonight, tomorrow night at 8pm is a new episode.
